Lt. Gen. Horoho was the first nurse and the first female in the Department of Defense’s 239-year history to hold these posts. She received her Master of Science degree as a clinical trauma nurse specialist from the University of Pittsburgh in 1992. Pitt has recognized her as a legacy laureate, a Distinguished Alumna and Fellow, and awarded her the Doctor of Public Service in Nursing and the distinguished School of Nursing Alumna award.
