2014 Staff Recognition Awards

Congratulations, Mark Dougherty and Mark Gregory

I am Mountain Cat Proud to recognize two members of our staff, Mark Dougherty and Mark Gregory, for outstanding service. They received their awards at Pitt-Johnstown’s annual staff recognition luncheon held on December 17.

Mark Gregory receives service award from President SpectarMark Gregory, who works in Physical Plant, received the President’s Staff Award for Excellence in Service to the Community. While working as a dedicated Pitt-Johnstown employee for the past 30 years, Gregory has given back to our community by sharing precious time and talent with the youth of the Greater Johnstown community. Loving sports and wanting to share the excitement of baseball, football, and basketball by coaching and planning tournaments, he makes sure that no player is left behind and that all players have their “time to shine!” Gregory provides a focused and honorable outlet while teaching local youth teamwork and sportsmanship. Not willing to stop at the end of a regular season, he prepares young athletes for all-star team tournaments, providing guidance, enthusiasm, confidence, and pride.

Mark Dougherty receives service award from President SpectarMark Dougherty, executive director of Housing & Residence Life, received the President’s Staff Award for Excellence in Service to Pitt-Johnstown. As a role model for others, Dougherty demonstrates an exemplary commitment to both Pitt-Johnstown students and staff. He is someone who delivers on all promises while doing what it takes to get the job done by remaining focused and optimistic – no matter the situation. His interactions with students are always respectful and supportive while ensuring that their experiences at Pitt-Johnstown are positive. Dougherty also sets a positive example for others while working with the Staff Association Council, demonstrating strong leadership skills as President, and has been involved in several successful projects including last week’s “Snack with Santa.” A staff member remarked, “I am proud and fortunate to have this person as my colleague.”

We are, indeed, fortunate to have dedicated individuals like Mr. Dougherty and Mr. Gregory as members of our campus community. Please join me in congratulating them on their well-deserved honors.
