Pitt-Johnstown professor Eric Schwerer read from his latest collection of poetry, Cruel Folklore (Seven Kitchens Press, 2016), on Thursday evening, October 6, 2016, to a packed room of rapt students, alumni, community members, and faculty.
The reading was held in Blackington 131 as part of the Humanities Division's annual Fall Reading Series.
Among the poems that Dr. Schwerer read were ones that had originally appeared in such high-profile venues as Prairie Schooner, out of University of Nebraska, and the New Ohio Review, out of Ohio University.
The poet was introduced by a young writer named Bethany Goch, who also teaches at Pitt-Johnstown, and who years ago studied under Dr. Schwerer while attending Richland High School.
After the reading, Dr. Schwerer signed copies of his books at the request of several who had been at the reading.
